About 15 per cent of users finish a Duolingo course, at which point they should have a good grasp of the language but are unlikely to be completely fluent. For example, a user complete levels as well as winning and losing points for correct or wrong answers. Valued at US$700m (Dh2.57 billion), the platform uses “gamification” techniques to encourage learning.
